Retirement: Getting Ready for What Comes Next
In the past year, I have been asked Menno offers courses on retirement. Well the short answer is, “no”; however, MPP does offer online courses. You can choose to join an online class or you can take a class privately, on your own time.
Municipal Pension Plan offers regularly scheduled webinars to members. Check their website at mpp.pensionsbc.ca for more information. Go directly to the courses at this link to find the right course for you: MPP Online Courses & Resources.
As a kind reminder, HR does not do Municipal Pension Plan Counseling; this is done through MPP. You can start your pension package through the Municipal Pension Plan 3 months prior to your retirement date. You can also phone MPP for direction on how to apply 1-800-668-6335. If you are looking for more information you can download and review the MPP overview by clicking here: DOWNLOAD MPP Overview 2025, especially if you are thinking you might enjoy retiring sooner than later.
You’re Invited to a Lunch and Learn!
It is always an exciting time when thinking about retirement. However, change is difficult. Come join our own Loradonna Botter for a lunch and learn session on “The Psychological Effects of Retirement: Living the Life you Deserve.” The dates and times for these one-hour sessions include:
- Thursday, June 26th at 12 noon in the Hospital Chapel
- Tuesday, July 8th at 6 pm in the Hospital Chapel
- Friday, July 18th at 10 pm in the MBS Corporate Boardroom
Registration is required to attend the seminar. Sign up using the form below. These dates are on hold for now and might change depending on how many people sign up for each session.
It is great to think of retirement as our golden years, make them shine! And in the words of Proverbs 16:31: “Wisdom is priceless in our later years.”
