Mental health is a state of being. It’s about feeling good about who we are, having balance in our lives and in our thinking, and managing life’s ups and downs. It impacts how we feel about ourselves and other people. Like our physical health, mental health is a key part of our overall well-being.
The purpose of this module is to introduce a basic understanding of—and lay the foundation for—a mentally healthy workplace. It aims to increase our understanding of what mental health and illness are, and also what they are not. It covers how to be more comfortable when talking about our own mental health, as well as being more supportive of and sensitive to those facing challenges.
Takeaways include recognizing common risk factors and causes, busting myths, challenging biases, and knowing where to find the right support.
