Re: Managers of Care, Menno Hospital and Menno Home

I am so grateful to all who work at Menno Place!  Working in health care is so rewarding but it also comes with unique challenges.  For Feldi, Manager of Care for Menno Home and Hospital, balancing home and worklife with three small children has been something she and her husband have been struggling with for some time.  Feldi gets so much enjoyment from working at Menno but needs to be at home at this time to take on the Mum role full time.  Feldi’s last day as Manager Menno Home and Hospital will be June 9th.  We will miss Feldi’s leadership, yet I am grateful that she will be able to do what she currently feels is best for her family.  Fortunately for us, Feldi will not be leaving us completely but will continue to support Menno Place in a casual LPN capacity.

Menno Hospital and Menno home support 357 residents.  The residents, their families, and all the staff who support them are all understanding the new normal post Covid-19 era.  In recognition of this, two managers are soon going to be in place to support the care teams and work with our support services portfolios to manage the care for our residents and families. The managers will provide the operational leadership in long term care (Menno Home and Menno Hospital), applying quality improvement approaches to ensure safe, efficient, resident and family centred care is provided under the direction of the Directors of Care.

Anitha Thomas

Nurse Manager, Menno Home

Many of you know Anitha Thomas who was the manager for SimpeQ at Menno Hospital.  We are thrilled that Anitha assumed the Manager of Care at Menno Home on May 3, 2023.  I was so pleased to hear that Anitha was the successful applicant for this position as she has demonstrated remarkable knowledge, compassion and experience while at Menno Hospital and has a proven track record for being a great team player.

Anitha obtained her Nursing degree from India in 2004.  She then started working as an RN at Menno Hospital. In 2022 she was recognized for her leadership and became the Nurse Manager with SimpeQ at Menno Hospital.

Anitha has told me that she feels blessed and excited to continue working in Menno place surrounded by wonderful residents, families, and amazing staff.

When not at work Anitha can be found playing with her kids, gardening, going to church, shopping

Kahan Rekhia

Nurse Manager, Menno Hospital

I am so pleased to also announce that Kahan Rekhia will be starting his new role as Manager of Care at Menno Hospital on June 8th. I believe that Kahan is the ideal candidate to join our leadership team.  He has significant experience in LTC and will bring fresh eyes and perspectives on how to deliver Resident and Family Centred Care.

Kahan is originally from Punjab, India and immigrated to Canada in 1996 with his family. While in India Kahan was working as a pharmacist.  Once he came to Canada he completed his Licensed Practical Nursing training.  Kahan comes to us with 20 years of experience working in Long Term Care, including 7 years’ experience working as an Assistant Director of Care. Kahan send the following message to be shared with the team:

“Hello Menno Place team, residents, and families,

I am excited to become part of your team at Menno Place. My passion lies in working with seniors and optimizing their quality of life with a person-centered approach, while also supporting the care team as much as possible in delivering a high standard of care. I strongly believe in the concept of teamwork and its ability to improve workplace efficiency, productivity and morale. I have been involved in initiatives focusing on appropriate use of anti-psychotics in LTC, safe resident handling, infection prevention and control as well occupational health and safety.

Outside of work, I am an avid fan of the sport of cricket. In my free time, I also enjoy exploring different cuisines and travelling with my family.”
