Vaccination Webinar with Dr. Penny Ballem

On April 28 at 12:30pm, SafeCare BC will be hosting a webinar with Dr. Penny Ballem to talk about immunity, COVID-19 vaccines, and why it’s so important to have a booster dose, as the province opens. This webinar is free and open to any staff who want to attend.

Dr. Penny Ballem will be joining the vaccine education team at SafeCare BC to talk to our members about immunity, COVID-19 vaccines, and why it’s so important to have a booster dose as the province opens up.

Dr. Ballem has been the Chair of the Board of Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) since 2019, as well as being a clinical professor of medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She has had a 35-year career as a health leader and academic clinician in British Columbia. Most recently, she was appointed to lead BC’s hugely successful rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.

Re:       HEALTH CARE ACCESS PROGRAM (HCAP) – back by popular demand

Menno Place is pleased to announce that we have again been approved for Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) full time positions fully funded by the Government of British Columbia’s Health Career Access Program (HCAP).  This program was developed in response to the urgent staffing needs across long-term care and assisted living sectors in BC.

The HCAP program works like a co-op – successful candidates work at the site and go to school for the HCA program at the same time.  This is a temporary position when, once completed, the person graduates with their HCA certification.

The HCAP education and training program takes approximately 12-18 months to complete.  It provides an opportunity for individuals to receive paid employer-sponsored training leading to the HCA credential.  The candidate must make a 12-month commitment to the employer to work as a HCA at the site once they have graduated from the program.  To enroll in the program and find out more go to:   https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/economic-recovery/work-in-health-care#HCAP

Menno Place has received approval for 4 candidates for Menno Home, 3 candidates for Menno Hospital and 2 candidates for Menno Apartments – Assisted Living. Watch for these postings going up Tuesday March 22, 2022.
