Order of the Provincial Health Officer – August 20, 2021

Dr. Bonnie Henry released the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Information and Preventive Measures Order on August 20, 2021.

What do you do immediately?

  1. Report your Public Health Number to Menno Place – CLICK HEREThis is an order. All employees must comply.

Definitions:

The public health order outlines definitions, such as “vaccinated” meaning a person who is a t least 14 days post-receipt of the full series of a World Health Organization (“WHO”) approved vaccines against infection by SARS-Co-V-2, or a combination of approved WHO vaccines.

Collection of Public Health Numbers:

Under this order, Menno Place is required to immediately provide the personal health number for all of our employees, including those who are on leave. This information will be delivered to the Provincial Health Officer to be matched against the information in the Provincial Immunization Registry. If an employee refuses to comply and provide this information, they may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employees are required to provide this information as compliance with the Public Health Order. Refusing to comply is a violation of the Public Health Act.

Thank you to all who have completed the full vaccination. 93% of Home employees, 86% of Hospital employees, 90% of Apartments employees and 96% of MBS employees are fully vaccinated according to the self-reporting that has been provided to Menno Place.

Unvaccinated Employees:

All unvaccinated employees continue to be required to wear a mask and, effective September 8, 2021 will require a rapid-test prior to each shift. Please note that the test must be taken prior to scanning into work and requires a 15 minute timeframe to deliver the results. You must arrive at work more than 15 minutes prior to your shift to take the test and provide the results before scanning into the time clock.

Vaccinated outside of British Columbia:

If an employee has been vaccinated outside British Columbia, you must enter your vaccination history at https://www.immunizationrecord.gov.bc.ca in order for it to appear in the Provincial Immunization Registry.

 

 

 

COVID-19 full vaccination mandatory for all BC long-term and Assisted Living staff by October 12

Today, Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer announced that all staff in assisted living facilities and long-term care homes in the province must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 12th (2 doses + 14 days). She said that this will be a condition of employment and an important tool to fight the variant infections in some of the province’s most vulnerable population. She also announced that this will be a condition of employment for acute care and community care.

In the interim, non-vaccinated staff will be required to continue to wear PPE and be tested regularly.

In the rare case that an individual cannot be fully vaccinated due to medical reasons, public health will be working with the individuals who are not able to be vaccinated.
