Congratulations to Evelyn Davison – and Thank You! Evelyn’s retirement tea celebrated 10 years of work at Menno Place, primarily as a Housekeeper in The Apartments. Evelyn spent six years working on night shift in Housekeeping, cleaning common areas throughout the night. Evelyn is known for her great sense of humor, her high standards of cleanliness and her kind spirit with residents.
Evelyn shared a number of stories with individuals at the tea – one in particular where a resident went missing. Police were eventually called and more than 25 people were searching for the wandering woman whose husband was anxious. She had asked him for directions to the bathroom in their new home. He told her to take the first door on the right. As it turned out, she went out of the apartment into the first door on the right – the neighbouring apartment! The blind resident next door thought she was a care aide. For more than four hours, she made him tea and crumpets and visited until she eventually returned to her own home!
Evelyn chose a beautiful watch for her retirement gift. It is inscribed with the Menno Place logo and the insignia, “Inspired to Serve”.
Thank you to Evelyn for your heartfelt work here at Menno Place and many happy days in your retirement!
