Cyndy Gabriel, our Director of Care is Retiring
Cyndy Gabriel is Retiring
It is with mixed emotions that Menno Place received Cyndy Gabriel’s notice of retirement. We are happy for her decision as it means entering a new season of life with her husband and family. We also feel a significant loss as she has been a dedicated, competent and skilled leader for nursing care and as a strategic leader on the Executive and Leadership Teams.
Cyndy had a date for her retirement and Menno Place had a retirement party booked to celebrate her years of work at Menno Place – and then along came COVID-19. In typical Cyndy style (responsible, capable, selfless and deeply concerned for the safety of residents and staff), she offered to stay on in her position to provide leadership in a time when transition would be difficult. Menno Place gladly accepted her offer – and we are so grateful for her leadership role that has helped guide us as we continue to be COVID-19 FREE.
We will announce Cyndy’s retirement date and party when we are out of the COVID-19 dangers and ready to transition into our “new normal”. Thank you to Cyndy for this generous contribution of your life for the calling of nursing throughout the 13 years that Menno Place has been your workplace – and in this time when all of our senior’s lives are in danger. This expression of your dedication and care does not go unnoticed by all staff . It models to us what it really means to be “resident and family centered” in the care we provide here at Menno Place. Thank you.
Cyndy started her career at Menno Place in 2007 in Menno Home where she worked as an RN Shift Leader. She had a short break and returned to Menno Place in 2009 as a casual shift leader. In January of 2010, Cyndy was hired as Resident Community Developer for both Home and Hospital. She was promoted to Director of Care and Quality of Life for Menno Home in 2010. Cyndy provided leadership for both of our recent Accreditation processes – achieving Exemplary Standing both times! In 2016, Cyndy accepted the challenge of serving BOTH Home and Hospital as the Director of Care. This responsibility is unmatched in our province (likely in all of Canada) in its scope. Cyndy serves on the Executive Team providing the nursing perspective on leadership decisions and strategic iniatives.
