GI Outbreak – Hospital, TE, Pav – Chapel Cancelled March 17

There is an outbreak at Terrace, Pavilion and Menno Hospital.

Here is the update for March 11 – 17
Next update on outbreak: March 18
- CANCELLED: ALL Recreation activities in Apartments.
- CANCELLED: All Recreation activities in Home and Hospital that have outside guests.
- CANCELLED: All Recreation activities in outbreak areas as per protocol.
- CANCELLED: Chapel activities, including Sunday chapel on the 17th
- Community meeting taking place in PG today. Cancelled in TE and Pavilion.
- No hairdressing or Foot Care services in The Apartments.
- Tray Delivery to continue as it was last week for lunch meals in The Apartments.
- Bistro snacks to be delivered in TE to Assisted Living residents
- Bistro snacks available in Pavilion and TW through the kitchen for residents who are not ill.
- Primrose Gardens Bistro continues as normal.
- Report ALL incidents of GI symptoms in residents of The Apartments to Reception or Nik (Life Enrichment coordinator)
HOME AND HOSPITAL STAFF – FOLLOW OUTBREAK PROTOCOL FOR YOUR AREA AS USUAL.
APARTMENTS STAFF – FOLLOW PROTOCOL:
- Do not leave your building for your entire shift.
- Take breaks and lunch in the building.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment if you are in contact with a resident who has GI symptoms (mask, gloves, gown).
- Report any ill Independent Living residents to Reception.
- Wash your hands frequently with hot soapy water. Sanitizer does not work to stop the spread of these symptoms.
- If you work in multiple buildings, work in the outbreak area LAST.
- Call in sick and do NOT come to work until two days after you are better.
- Report illness to your Supervisor.
- Get medical help as required (doctor appointment or 9-1-1)
- Follow all protocol for working in your area.
