GI Outbreak – Hospital, TE, Pav – Chapel Cancelled March 17

UPDATE: MARCH 11

There is an outbreak at Terrace, Pavilion and Menno Hospital.
CHAPEL SERVICES CANCELLED MARCH 17

Here is the update for March 11 – 17
Next update on outbreak: March 18

  1. CANCELLED: ALL Recreation activities in Apartments.
  2. CANCELLED: All Recreation activities in Home and Hospital that have outside guests.
  3. CANCELLED: All Recreation activities in outbreak areas as per protocol.
  4. CANCELLED: Chapel activities, including Sunday chapel on the 17th
  5. Community meeting taking place in PG today. Cancelled in TE and Pavilion.
  6. No hairdressing or Foot Care services in The Apartments.
  7. Tray Delivery to continue as it was last week for lunch meals in The Apartments.
  8. Bistro snacks to be delivered in TE to Assisted Living residents
  9. Bistro snacks available in Pavilion and TW through the kitchen for residents who are not ill.
  10. Primrose Gardens Bistro continues as normal.
  11. Report ALL incidents of GI symptoms in residents of The Apartments to Reception or Nik (Life Enrichment coordinator)

HOME AND HOSPITAL STAFF – FOLLOW OUTBREAK PROTOCOL FOR YOUR AREA AS USUAL.

APARTMENTS STAFF – FOLLOW PROTOCOL:

  1. Do not leave your building for your entire shift.
  2. Take breaks and lunch in the building.
  3. Wear Personal Protective Equipment if you are in contact with a resident who has GI symptoms (mask, gloves, gown).
  4. Report any ill Independent Living residents to Reception.
  5. Wash your hands frequently with hot soapy water. Sanitizer does not work to stop the spread of these symptoms.
  6. If you work in multiple buildings, work in the outbreak area LAST.
  7. Call in sick and do NOT come to work until two days after you are better.
  8. Report illness to your Supervisor.
  9. Get medical help as required (doctor appointment or 9-1-1)
  10. Follow all protocol for working in your area.
