Menno Place has been ordered by the Provincial Health Officer that all unvaccinated Menno Place staff must have a rapid test prior to each shift, effective September 13th (previously September 8th).
The following preventive measures apply to unvaccinated staff:
- The individual must wear a medical maks when at the facility or when accompanying a resident away from the facility (except when consuming food or a beverage).
- The individual must undergo a rapid test prior to each shift. If the test is negative, the individual may sign in for their shift. Please allow 20 minutes to do the test and receive the result prior to the beginning of your shift. If the test is positive, please follow the instructions below.
- Unvaccinated staff should maintain a two metre distance from others at all times when eating food and in break rooms.
If an unvaccinated employee refuses to wear a mask or undergo a rapid test, the employee will be refused access to the facility. Employees will not be paid for missed shifts, and may be subject to discipline up to and including termination. Refusing to comply is a violation of the Public Health Act.

Definitions
The Public Health Order, August 20, 2021 provides helpful definitions:
“unvaccinated” means that a person does not meet the definition of “vaccinated” and includes
- a staff member who has not provided the information required to be provided under this Order; and;
- a staff member who has not been vaccinated in British Columbia, and who does not provide their vaccination history as required by this Order
“vaccinated” means a person who is at least 7 days post-receipt of the full series of a World Health Organization (“WHO”) approved vaccines against infection by SARS-CoV-2, or a combination of the approved WHO vaccines.
