Public Health Order
On August 12, 2021, Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC Public Health Officer announced that full vaccination by October 12th is now a condition of employment for those working in Long-Term Care homes and Assisted Living apartments. See announcement – CLICK HERE
The Public Health Order, August 20, 2021 provides helpful definitions:
“unvaccinated” means that a person does not meet the definition of “vaccinated” and includes
- a staff member who has not provided the information required to be provided under this Order; and;
- a staff member who has not been vaccinated in British Columbia, and who does not provide their vaccination history as required by this Order
“vaccinated” means a person who is at least 7* days post-receipt of the full series of a World Health Organization (“WHO”) approved vaccines against infection by SARS-CoV-2, or a combination of the approved WHO vaccines.
Dr. Bonnie Henry will announce another Public Health Order that confirms her August 12th announcement indicating that all healthcare workers will need to be vaccinated by October 12, 2021.
Medical and Religious Exemptions – the parameters for these exemptions will be released shortly. At this time, we know that there will be standardized parameters that will be used to determine who is exempt.

- arrange to have a PCR test as soon as possible – Call 604.587.3936 – 32470 Haida Drive, Abbotsford, BC

- and not return to Menno Place unless the result of the PCR test is negative
If the PCR test result is positive:
- 10 days have passed from the time of the positive rapid test, or
- the staff member’s return has been approved by the medical health officerA
A PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test for COVID-19 is a test used to diagnosis people who are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2, which is the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The test is a nose swab and is the most accurate and reliable test for diagnosing COVID-19. The PHO requires this test to be administered by a publicly funded program or a publicly paid health care provider.
