UPDATES AND REPORTING:
With the high prevalence of COVID in the community, Fraser Health introduced new Scenarios for Protocols. This has impacted the complexity of reporting residents and staff who are COVID positive. As a result, we have made some changes to reporting:
- In the initial outbreaks, all COVID positive cases (both staff and residents) could be easily traced to the outbreak as the source of transmission. During this wave of Omicron, it is nearly impossible to do contact tracing with staff as it relates to transmission on the unit. With this in mind, we will no longer be reporting staff COVID positive cases unless they are the initial cases on the unit.
- The various scenarios for protocols have added layers of complexity to when the “beginning” of a COVID outbreak takes place. You will notice that there is a jump in the number of COVID positive residents on Home W2 today as we are now reporting not only how many residents have become COVID positive since the declaration of the outbreak, but also since the initial Scenario was declared. Our goal continues to be that we provide accurate and meaningful reports to you in order to clearly express the significance and ongoing nature of COVID positives on a unit.
- Unless an Outbreak is declared or ends, we will no longer be reporting on weekends. You can continue to expect updates Monday – Friday.
