Thank You for Your Generosity!
Over the holiday season the Menno Place community and the broader Abbotsford community showed up for us in some spectacular ways. We want to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every one of you. You made our season sparkle.
Small Acts: New Socks
This Christmas we launched our first Small Acts campaign asking the community to be “sock angels” and donate new, warm socks that could be given to the Abbotsford community. It’s fair to say you knocks our socks off. Over just a couple of weeks we collected 725 pairs of socks! We took these socks to our friends at MCC who will distribute them to men, women, and children in need right here in our city.
Gifts from London Drugs – Stocking Stuffers for Seniors
All across Western Canada the London Drugs Stocking Stuffers for Seniors program gives customers the opportunity to brighten the season for a local senior. Here in Abbotsford, London Drugs at Seven Oaks partnered with their customers to provide 180 gifts for residents in Long-Term Care at Menno Place. The residents received cozy hats and scarves, slippers and blankets, treats like chocolates and nuts, puzzle books and more. We are humbled by your generosity.
Gifts from The Old Spaghetti Factory – Angel Tree
The Old Spaghetti Factory in Abbotsford set up an angel tree asking the community to buy gifts for residents in assisted living. Our recreation staff had the opportunity to ask residents what they would like so the gifts could be tailored to each recipient. They provided gifts for 40 residents! The team from The Old Spaghetti factory said the response to the angel tree was so enthusiastic they’re already making plans to expand the program for next year.
Financial Support
Through both Giving Tuesday and our end of the year ask the Menno Place community exceeded our fundraising goal! Thank you for standing with us as work to improve the quality of life for our seniors, enhance the spiritual care on campus, and plan toward building a new state-of-the-art care home.
Friends of Menno Place
2024 saw the launch of the Friends of Menno Place, an initiative designed to connect the community of family and friends who want to make to a more formal commitment to support Menno Place. This commitment can take the form of finances, volunteer hours, or a commitment to pray weekly. By the end of the year we had members join us across all three categories. We can’t wait to see how their commitment will make a positive difference on campus. You can learn more about Friends of Menno Place here: https://www.mennoplace.ca/friends/
