Ministry of Health Stabilization Pay
The Ministry of Health BC is providing a Stabilization Pay for eligible staff in long term care sites that have had an outbreak and faced significant staffing deficits. At Menno Place, Menno Home is the location where outbreak was declared by the Medical Health Officer.
We have been granted the 1.5X Stabilization Pay funded by the Ministry of Health to long term care sites on outbreak that have significant staffing deficits. This funding will apply to Menno Home staff in all units who have been cohorted to units while on outbreak. Eligible staff will be paid 1.5X their wage for straight time hours worked from December 15 until the end of the outbreak. This is an additional 0.5x wage rate added to each regular paid hours worked.
When does the 1.5X Stabilization Pay start / end? The Stabilization Pay runs from December 15, 2020 until the outbreak is declared over.
When will the 1.5X Stabilization Pay be paid to the staff? You will see the additional pay on your January 29th paycheque.
Who is eligible for the 1.5X Stabilization Pay? The 1.5X pay is for direct resident care positions. This includes nursing staff, HCAs, housekeepers, dietary, and recreation staff who have been cohorted to a unit.
Does the 1.5X Stabilization Pay apply to overtime and stat holiday pay? No – the 1.5X is on straight time hours only. Staff working overtime hours and/or on a stat holiday are to be paid at the applicable overtime or stat holiday rate of pay.
Is the 1.5X pay applied to shift differentials? No. the 1.5X is on straight time hours only and is not payable on anything other than base hours.
