Terrace East Staff are ordered to be COVID tested on September 28th *Update
All staff who worked in Terrace East between Sept. 8 and 27th must be swabbed on September 28th.
*If you tested positive for COVID in the past 90 days, you do NOT need to get the PCR test, but you must report this to staffing and your supervisor.
This is an order from the Public Health Officer and is not optional.
Fraser Health nurses will be at Terrace East to provide the COVID swab to staff who are working at Terrace East on Tuesday, September 28th.
In the previous point prevalence testing (Sept. 21), we understand that there were staff who did NOT get their COVID swab or gargle test. Menno Place phoned all staff on September 21st to advise you that you must be swabbed. The lack of compliance to the order was reported to us by Public Health. As a result of the non-compliance to the order, Public Health was not able to determine if there has been any transmission of COVID and residents were ordered to continue on isolation for another week.
*Update – As a staff who worked in Terrace East, you do not have to make an appointment at the test site (we understand that the booking system may be down). If you show up at the COVID test site and say you are a staff healthcare worker in the Terrace East Outbreak, you will be given a test. All staff in any role are considered healthcare workers when they work in a healthcare facility.
You MUST get swabbed or do a gargle test on September 28th by order of Public Health. A rapid test is not enough. You must either get swabbed during your work shift at Terrace East on Tuesday, September 28th OR arrange to have a PCR test: – Call 604.587.3936 – 32470 Haida Drive, Abbotsford, BC (or the closest COVID test site to you).
A PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test for COVID-19 is a test used to diagnosis people who are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2, which is the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The test is a nose swab and is the most accurate and reliable test for diagnosing COVID-19. The PHO requires this test to be administered by a publicly funded program or a publicly paid health care provider. You can have a nose swab or a gargle test.
Failure to comply with this order is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Terrace East employees are under this Public Health Order. Refusing to comply is a violation of the Public Health Act.
