Important Outlook Calendar Notice

British Columbia is adopting a new permanent time zone, Pacific Time (British Columbia) (UTC-07:00). Beginning November 1, 2026, BC will no longer switch back to Standard Time, and clocks will remain at UTC-07:00 year-round.

This change may affect some existing Outlook calendar appointments and meetings scheduled for November 1 or later. In particular, meetings created using the old Pacific Time (US & Canada) time zone may appear one hour earlier or later than intended. Recurring meetings may be especially affected.

What should you do if you organize meetings occurring on or after November 1:

  • Review your upcoming meetings and confirm that they appear at the correct time.
  • If a meeting is using the old Pacific Time (US & Canada) time zone, change it to Pacific Time (British Columbia) (UTC-07:00) and save/send the updated invitation.
  • After updating a recurring series, check any individual occurrences that you previously changed, as those exceptions may need to be corrected again.
  • If you are an attendee and a meeting appears at the wrong time, please contact the organizer. Only the meeting organizer can correct the meeting and send an updated invitation. Unfortunately, there is no automated fix or solution to fixing the time zones in meetings.
