Point Prevalence COVID testing will take place today for staff and residents.

The unit is now on isolation and we are awaiting instruction from the Public Health officer.

W1 Home – We are pleased to anticipate that W1 Home will be OFF enhanced monitoring the MORNING of May 7th! If you are hoping to have a visit with your loved one, please go to www.MennoPlaceLife.com to book your visit.
There are no changes to report to the other units that are on enhanced monitoring.
RAPID COVID-19 TESTING – Menno Place is part of a pilot project with Fraser Health that is training and providing rapid COVID tests to staff and visitors. Sharon Simpson has created a video of her first rapid COVID test.
If you have NOT been vaccinated and are coming to Menno Place as a social visitor, please ask for a rapid test (self-test or have a Visitation Host do the test) so you KNOW you are safe when you enter the Menno Place buildings.

May 3, 2021 – MENNO HOME WEST 1 – COVID positive = 1 STAFF

TOTAL COVID POSITIVE CASES = 1 (0 resident/ 1 staff)
Point Prevalence COVID testing took place today. Residents and staff who were previously swabbed were swabbed again for COVID. If there are no COVID positive results, residents will be able to come off of enhanced monitoring and return to social visits May 8th.

- Staff to use separate entrance
We are waiting for further pending swabs to be returned.

We are waiting for further instruction from Public Health.
APRIL 26 – MENNO HOME EAST 1 – COVID positive T = 1 STAFF

TOTAL NEW SYMPTOMATIC = 0 (0 resident / 0 staff)
In consultation with Public Health and the Medical Health Officer:
- Residents are off enhanced monitoring due to low risk of exposure
- Visitations to continue as before
- Communal dining and recreation as before
- Residents and staff to get tested even with milder symptoms
- No need to cohort staff to one unit
APRIL 26 – MENNO HOME WEST 1 – *NEW* COVID positive = 1 STAFF

NEW COVID POSITIVE CASES = 1 (0 residents / 1 staff)
TOTAL COVID POSITIVE CASES = 1 (0 residents/ 1 staff)
TOTAL NEW SWABS FOR COVID = 7 (6 residents / 1 staff)
In consultation with Public Health, the following directions were given:
- 6 residents who were in contact with the staff member are on droplet isolation and have been swabbed
- Remaining residents are to stay in their rooms
- All communal activities including dining and recreation temporarily stopped
- All visitation (social and essential) temporarily stopped
There will be more information once public health consults the Medical Health Officer.
APRIL 25 – MENNO HOME EAST 1 – *NEW* COVID positive = 1 STAFF
