TOTAL COVID POSITIVE CASES = 1 (1 resident / 0 staff)
PASSED AWAY = 1 (0 resident / 0 staff)

NOTES:
  • 45/45 resident’s COVID swab tests have returned – ALL negative!
  • 39/40 staff COVID swab tests have returned – ALL negative!
  • We are waiting for one staff swab to come back.
  • We pray that the droplet precautions as well as the co-horting of staff will result in no further spread of COVID-19 on this unit.
  • Staff on this unit continue to get immunized with the COVID-19 Pfizer/Biontech vaccine

NEW COVID POSITIVE CASES = 0
NUMBER OF RESIDENTS ON ISOLATION = 4
TOTAL COVID POSITIVE CASES = 2 (2 residents / 0 staff)
PASSED AWAY = 0 (0 resident / 0 staff)
ACTION:
  • 1 COVID-19 positive resident has returned from ARH. Supported by family, in isolation. Full PPE and education provided to the family support. PPE provided at no charge.
  • During this Christmas season, we are asking families in the Independent Living Apartments to celebrate by having the Registered Visitors come to the resident suite. If you go to a family home over Christmas, you will be required to self-isolate in your apartment for 14 days upon your return to your apartment. This is a very HIGH RISK time, especially for seniors. You will be billed for the isolation process and required Personal Protective Equipment if you go to a family home for Christmas celebrations.
  • 14-day isolation occurs when there is a COVID-Positive exposure or a resident returns from an acute care hospital.
  • This is the time to be vigilant, to ensure that all residents are safe by exercising caution, staying at home and encouraging residents to stay at home.

DECEMBER 18 – HOME E2 – Total new positives = 3 residents (T=61) – 2 more residents recovered (23)

We are very sad to share that the 9th resident has succumbed to COVID-19. Our condolences go out to the family and loved ones of this resident.

PASSED AWAY = Total = 9 residents
RECOVERED RESIDENTS = 23 residents
STAFF RETURNED TO WORK = 12 staff
ACTIVE RESIDENT CASES = 6 residents
ACTION:
  • We continue to practice effective donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment, hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, active screening, enhanced cleaning.

DECEMBER 17 – HOME W1 – Total new positives = 0 (T=1) – One resident has passed away

We are sorry to share that the one COVID-19 positive resident succumbed to the virus and has passed away. Our condolences go out to the family who is grieveing the loss.

  • This is the THIRD day that we have 0 positive cases!
  • We have a suggestion from a Housekeeper (former Visitation Host) on E2 Home – she is wondering if family would let Menno Place know if there is something that she could do for a resident as she cleans their room. She gave the example that she knows that a wife sings a German children’s song to her husband when she visits. Since she also knows German, she sang this song to the resident while cleaning his room.   • We pray for the staffing as we re-adjust the schedules and continue our cohorting
  • Please pray for the staff as this brings a sense of anxiety to the W1 Team
  • We have prioritized W1 staff for receiving the vaccination for COVID-19
