Volume 2022.27 Winter Weather Advisory
/in HR Bulletin, Important UpdateVolume 2022.27 Winter Weather Advisory
We wish to advise you of an upcoming shift in weather with risk of low-elevation snow for the Lower Mainland.
Details:
- Timespan: Sunday, November 27th to Saturday, Dec 3rd
- Cold temperatures. Temperatures will be 5 to 20 degrees colder than normal and will begin to drop Sunday, with the coldest days expected late in the week
- Gradual warming is expected to begin by next weekend (Dec 3-4, 2022)
- Widespread snow possible throughout the week with forecasts of 5-20 cm of accumulation Tuesday/Wednesday
Potential impacts for consideration
- Changing weather conditions may impact regular commutes and transportation corridors
- Staff may be impacted in their travel to and from work sites
- Blowing snow and accumulating snow on roads may make travel challenging
- Power outages are possible from moderate to strong gusty winds, or infrastructure damage from ground instability
- Menno Place may be directly impacted and will prepare for power failures
Potential actions to take
- Arrange alternative transportation, such as car pooling, if uncomfortable with driving in these conditions.
- Sign up for weather alerts through Alertable, WeatherCAN, and AlertMe
- Make sure on-call leadership is aware and knows how to report any impacts
- Maintenance is working hard to keep our campus clear of snow and ice.
- Take precautions when walking/driving and wear proper footward.
Sincerely,
Jeanette Lee

A Free Digital Advent Devotional for You!
/in Important UpdateMenno Place would like to offer our residents, staff, and families a special 4-week digital devotional published by Christianity Today to help you journey through the 2022 Advent season. This is our gift to you!

Over the 4 weeks of Advent, this devotional guide explore what Scripture tells us about the Promised One. The daily reflections delve into key passages that help us understand more about who Jesus is. And each weekly theme centers around a core aspect of Jesus’ identity drawn from Isaiah’s prophecies.
Week 1 | Jesus is the Mighty God
We anticipate his promised return and his ultimate reign.
Week 2 | Jesus is the Prince of Peace
He brings us spiritual peace in the here and now as we experience redemption and live by the values of his kingdom.
Week 3 | Jesus is the Light of the World
Jesus is not only the light for us as individuals–he is a light for all nations.
Week 4 | Jesus is Immanuel
As Isaiah’s prophecy foretold, he is “God with us.”
Each daily reading concludes with Scripture passages for reflection and discussion questions to aid individual or group study. The guide at the back of the devotional offers additional ideas and activities for families and groups throughout advent.
As a bonus, the devotional includes two additional devotional readings for Christmas Day and Epiphany as well as family and group discussion questions and activities.
