Staff Parking Notice

Now that visitors have returned to our campus, you are reminded that staff are not to park:

  • in visitor parking spots within the campus parking lots. Thanks for thinking of our visitors who may not be as mobile as you are and need the parking spots closer to the building entrances.
  • on Primrose Street or Brundige Ave in “resident only” parking. This parking is reserved for residents and their visitors which is increasing with the sunny weather. Private care workers and delivery services also use this parking when providing services to residents in the Apartments.

Thank you!

WorkSafe BC COR certified!

We did it Again! COR Occupational Health and Safety Audit Result = 95%

Between May 3 – 6, 2021 Menno Home and Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety Programs were audited by an external auditor to ensure we meet and exceed the safety requirements of WorkSafe BC. This is a voluntary audit that Menno Place does annually and requires an 80% pass. We are please to receive a Certificate of Recognition (COR) with a 95% result! This is a great result considering the tumultuous year we have gone through with COVID – 19.

Thank you to the 41 team members who met with the auditor and answered his questions around safety at Menno Place. A special thank you to the Menno Home, Hospital and Apartments Joint Occupational Health Committees for their input and to Pearl Nucich and Jessy Manhas for collecting the data required and scheduling all the interviews!

It’s Mother’s Day!

It’s Mother’s Day! We wish all of the mothers at Menno a day of celebration. We also recognize that this day is not always an easy one, or one of celebration. We are thinking of all of you today, no matter what the day brings. Blessings.

REMINDER: One Active Screening per Shift

Effective late last week, staff are only required to be actively screened at the beginning of their shift. The mid-shift screening is no longer required.

Day of Mourning – April 28

Across Canada, April 28 is recognized as the Day of Mourning. On this day, we acknowledge those who have died, or suffered serious injury or illness in the workplace.

This past year has been a challenging one for healthcare workers—the physical, mental and emotional toll, both direct and indirect, has been immense.Today, we acknowledge those whose lives have been lost over the past year, and those who are recovering from serious illness and injury. Together, we remember, mourn, and heal.

Visit www.dayofmourning.bc.ca to leave a note for a fallen worker and view a list of online ceremonies you can attend.

SafeCare BC and its partners have developed several resources to help you through these difficult times.

  • Care for Caregivers – an online platform of free mental health resources
  • Care to Speak – a free, confidential peers support chat for healthcare workers
  • Crisis Line – If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, call the distress service at 1-800-784-2433 (1-800-SUICIDE),or call your local crisis centre.
