Make Sure You Are Getting the Staff Newsletter

We’ve heard from some staff that the Menno Place Staff Newsletter has been going to their junk folder. This seems to happen most often with people using @icloud.com email addresses but it can affect other email programs as well. The best way to make sure you receive the staff newsletter is to add the newsletter email address as a contact. This lets your email program know that this is a trusted source you want to receive mail from.

Here’s how to add a contact on an iphone:

  1. Select your phone app, then click Contacts from the menu at the bottom.
  2. Click the + sign in the top right corner.
  3. Enter information for the new contact (Menno Place) with the email address  – newsletter@mennoplacemail.com .
  4. Select Done

Here’s how to add a contact on an android:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Contacts app .
  2. At the bottom right, tap Add .
  3. Enter the contact’s name and an email address. To pick the account where you want to save the contact: Next to your email account, tap the Down arrow.
  4. When you’re finished, tap Save.

Worklife Pulse Prize Draw FIXED for Menno Home Employees

Thank you to those of you who work in Menno Home for reporting that you were unable to fill out the prize draw form after completing the WorkLife Pulse Survey.

We have fixed this issue.

If you have completed the survey and were not able to enter the draw, please fill out another entry.  If you haven’t filled out the WorkLife Pulse Survey yet, please complete it and then fill out the form for the draw. This survey is part of our accreditation process and we need employees from all across campus to take part.

We would like to inform you that for this year, the process for submitting second and subsequent vacation requests will remain the same. All requests can be submitted via paper and dropped off at the Staffing department. All other requests must be through the GoldCare employee portal.

If you have already submitted your request through the GoldCare employee portal, you do not need to submit a paper request.

Menno Home: Mandatory Violence Prevention Education

Dear Team,

In order to provide a safe and secure work environment, Menno Place is requiring all staff to complete the Violence Prevention Modules 1-8, if you haven’t done so already. This applies to ALL MENNO HOME STAFF, direct and non-direct care staff.

You can access and complete the modules on SURGE Learning.

If you’re unsure of your username or password, please contact Rachel Setka, HR Generalist, at Rachel.Setka@mennoplace.ca.

Steps to Complete the Training:

  1. Go to www.surgelearning.ca.
  2. Log in with your username and password, then click “Sign In.”
  3. Click on the Courses Library.
  4. Locate Health Employers Association of BC Violence Prevention (10) and click the “+” to expand the section.
  5. Modules 1-8 will be listed.
  6. Select a module. After completing it, click “I have completed this course.”
  7. Answer the “Course Completion Verification” question, enter your password, and click “Submit.”
  8. If there is a “test” icon, please complete the test to ensure the module is marked as complete.

No need to email your certificate to People & Culture – it will automatically be saved in your SURGE Learning profile.

How to Get Paid for 80 Minutes of Education Time:

You do not need to submit a form requesting paid education time. The People & Culture team will generate a report from Surge Learning on the following dates:

  • January 6, 2025: for education completed between November 14, 2024 and December 31, 2024.
  • April 3, 2025: for education completed between January 1, 2025 and March 31, 2025.

The final deadline for all staff to complete the modules is March 31, 2025.
