Please welcome Linda Weatherly as the newest member of the leadership team at Menno Place in the role of Manager of Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteer Services.
Linda worked at Menno Place as a Recreation Aide in 2017 after completing her diploma in Therapeutic Recreation. Prior to her career change she was a business development leader for 27 years overseeing 9 BC locations of a women’s fashion store. Linda is excited to come back to Menno Place to work collaboratively with the recreation workers, the rehabilitation team, and the volunteers to serve the many residents that live on the campus. Her first day of work is April 11th.
As previously announced, the BC Ministry of Health has put out new guidelines for visiting in Long Term Care and Assisted Living. These guidelines officially began on Mar 18th but here at Menno Place we’ve been already been enjoying these changes for the last week.
Are there any additional changes to what was announced on March 11th? Yes:
You can find the full set of changes that went into effect on March 11th by clicking here.

Re: HEALTH CARE ACCESS PROGRAM (HCAP) – back by popular demand
Menno Place is pleased to announce that we have again been approved for Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) full time positions fully funded by the Government of British Columbia’s Health Career Access Program (HCAP). This program was developed in response to the urgent staffing needs across long-term care and assisted living sectors in BC.
The HCAP program works like a co-op – successful candidates work at the site and go to school for the HCA program at the same time. This is a temporary position when, once completed, the person graduates with their HCA certification.
The HCAP education and training program takes approximately 12-18 months to complete. It provides an opportunity for individuals to receive paid employer-sponsored training leading to the HCA credential. The candidate must make a 12-month commitment to the employer to work as a HCA at the site once they have graduated from the program. To enroll in the program and find out more go to: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/economic-recovery/work-in-health-care#HCAP
Menno Place has received approval for 4 candidates for Menno Home, 3 candidates for Menno Hospital and 2 candidates for Menno Apartments – Assisted Living. Watch for these postings going up Tuesday March 22, 2022.
