This week we’re praying for Sujata Connors.
If you work in long term care, this is a resource you can offer to the families you come in contact with: Family, Friends and Caregivers Caregiver Support Group – summer series.
Family and friends of people living in long term care share similar experiences, and they are not alone. Many emotions can arise by having your loved in long term care. This support group meets to share stories and support each other through the difficult moments.
Our Caregiver Support Group is about having a safe place to talk about your emotions, connect with other family, friends and caregivers, learn how to support your loved one in care, and gain tools to assist you in taking care of yourself. Our hope is that family and friends will feel encouraged, supported and strengthened to continue this ongoing journey.
The Family and Friends Support Group will be a closed group with a maximum of 10 members, and a minimum of 5 members. This is to create a safe and familiar space where we can build trust with other members over time and feel comfortable sharing with one another. Registration will be on a first come first serve basis. There will be a total of 4 sessions in this summer series with dates as follows:
Dates: July 9th and July 16th August 6th and August 13th
Time: 2:30 -3:30 pm
Location: Terrace East Boardroom
Topics may include:
After this group has completed, another group will be started in Fall of 2025. Members who have completed a Family & Friends Caregiver Support Group series can register for another group in the future.
The group will be facilitated by Menno Home Social Worker Kim Wiebe and Menno Hospital Social Worker Dan Janzen.

Each June the Menno Place family gathers to honour the residents who have passed in the previous year. It’s a special time for families, friends, and staff to come together with a memorial service. Staff are invited to join or drop in to this event. (Please coordinate with your manager to ensure staff proper staffing coverage during the event.)
This year’s memorial will take place:
Friday, June 13, 2025
at 1:00pm
in the Menno Hospital chapel.
The service will start at 1:00 and runs for one hour. It includes music, readings, prayer and a presentation that honours each resident who passed in the last year, organized by the community where they lived. The service will be livestreamed and also available to view online after the event has ended. The butterfly release follows directly after the service in the Menno Home Courtyard.
