Menno Home E1 Chaplain Transition

In order to better balance the workload for the chaplains in long-term care, Andy Capesinio has been assigned as the lead Chaplain for Menno Home E1. Andy continues his role as lead Chaplain for Menno Hospital. We are thankful for the calibre of all three chaplains we have at Menno Place. They are dedicated and compassionate in their ministry among us – for this, we are deeply grateful.

We welcome Andy Capesinio in the lead role of Chaplain for E1 Menno Home, effective June 3, 2024. Andy is currently the lead chaplain in Menno Hospital and is a well-loved, joyful member of the chaplain team. Before joining the Menno Place Chaplain Team in 2023, Andy was the Spiritual Care Advisor for Siloam Mission in Winnipeg, MB. Andy has a Masters of Divinity Degree from Asian Theological Seminary and extensive training in caring for those who are vulnerable. He has a welcoming and fun-loving personality with a deep, compassionate heart and vibrant smile.

Ann Thakkar continues to serve as lead chaplain for the other units in Menno Home (W1, W2, E2). We appreciate her skill,  love and spiritual care for our residents, families and staff.

Sincerely,

Sharon Simpson

Director, Community Enrichment

Spring Flower Donations – May 22 – 24

We have heard from families that they would like to brighten our gardens – we are receiving donations this coming Wednesday – Friday.

Donations will arrive to Menno Home Entrance A and Menno Hospital Main Entrance

The Visitation Hosts will bring donations of annual flowers, potting soil and posts in new/like-new condition to the tent in the courtyard.

Recreation will “shop” from the donations for their own areas of the campus. Residents will be encouraged to join in the planting.

Please water the flowers that are donated to keep them looking beautiful all summer.

If you would like to donate, please join the community by bringing donations this week!

Fireside Cafe Tab (Overpaid or Owing)

The Fireside Cafe had a tab system that allowed staff to pay for meals ahead of time or afterwards, drawing down from a larger sum paid.

If you believe that you have money owing to you – or you owe money, please fill out this form (below). We will reconcile your tab within 30 days based on the records.

Re: Closure of the Fireside Café

___________________________________________________________________________

We are sorry to announce that the Fireside Café is closing until further notice. The last day of service will be Friday, May 17, 2024.  Reassessment of the menu and financial viability will take place in the coming weeks. Our hope is to create a renewed café that is sustainable.

In the near future we will provide coffee and snacks by donation. The café has been a welcome spot on campus for residents, families, and staff and this decision was not taken lightly. We want to thank the café team who have done an excellent job over the years. We will miss seeing your smiling faces in the morning over coffee.

What happens next?

Please continue to use the Fireside Café patio and café tables for your meals, breaks, and family parties.

We are actively planning for ways to revamp and improve the café. We want to hear from you! If you have ideas for things you’d love to see in a café on campus or notes for things that were challenging we want to hear them.

Please use the form below to send us your thoughts and let us know how the Fireside Café has been beneficial for you, your loved ones and your family.
