We’re pleased to announce that all non-direct care staff in Menno Home who have completed Violence Prevention Modules 1-8 are eligible to participate in the paid PVPC education on campus! This is a fantastic opportunity to further enhance your skills and contribute to a safer workplace.

To be eligible for the training, we are requesting a copy of your Violence Prevention Modules 1-8 that you completed on either Learning Hub or Surge Learning. Kindly email your certificate to HR.Projects@mennoplace.ca.

For our direct care staff members who haven’t yet submitted their certificates to the People and Culture team, please ensure you do so to qualify for this education. The deadline for submission is November 12, 2024.

Thank you for your commitment to fostering a safe environment for everyone. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and look forward to seeing many of you participate!
Stay tuned for more information for those who haven’t completed the education yet!

Re: $3 Charge for Badge Reels

Dear Team,
Starting November 1, 2024, Menno Place will introduce a $3 charge for the replacement of retractable reels. This decision aims to manage replacement costs effectively while ensuring these items remain available. The charge will be processed as a payroll deduction, similar to the ID badge and name tag replacements.

You can visit the People & Culture offices for a replacement.

MEMO: Sick Calls on the Long Weekend

To: All Menno Place Staff
From: Jessy Manhas
Date: September 16, 2024
Re: Long weekend Announcement Regarding Sick Calls

Dear Team,

In the past, we have noticed a pattern of increased sick calls over the long weekend, followed by staff working on the statutory holiday the next day. All staff scheduled to work during the long weekend are expected to report to their shifts as usual.

Due to this recurring pattern, we will be requiring proof of illness/doctor’s note as per the Collective Agreement from anyone who calls in sick on September 28 and 29, 2024. Additionally, if you call in sick on September 29, 2024 and then come to work on the statutory holiday, September 30, 2024, an investigation will be initiated by your Manager with a Shop Steward and a doctor’s note is mandatory. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action and a risk of no sick time pay.

We appreciate your understanding and dedication to our residents’ care. Adhering to these guidelines will help ensure smooth operations throughout the long weekend.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your department manager.

Sincerely,

Jessy Manhas

Re: September 01, 2024

As you may be aware, the Abbotsford Nagar Kirtan Parade is scheduled for September 1, 2024. In the past, we have noticed a pattern of increased sick calls on this day, followed by staff working on the statutory holiday the next day.

Due to this recurring pattern, we will be requiring proof of illness/doctor’s note as per the Collective Agreement from anyone who calls in sick on September 1, 2024. Additionally, if you call in sick on September 1, 2024 and then come to work on the statutory holiday, September 2, 2024, an investigation will be initiated by your Manager with a Shop Steward. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.

This procedure is being enforced strictly, as there have been numerous shift cancellations which is putting Menno Place at risk of not being able to provide safe resident care.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your manager.
