Please welcome Linda Weatherly as the newest member of the leadership team at Menno Place in the role of Manager of Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteer Services.
Linda worked at Menno Place as a Recreation Aide in 2017 after completing her diploma in Therapeutic Recreation. Prior to her career change she was a business development leader for 27 years overseeing 9 BC locations of a women’s fashion store. Linda is excited to come back to Menno Place to work collaboratively with the recreation workers, the rehabilitation team, and the volunteers to serve the many residents that live on the campus. Her first day of work is April 11th.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Let’s celebrate with our Irish colleagues and wear green on Thursday, March 17th.
🎼 Praise God, it’s March! Our hymn of the month is the Doxology by Bishop Thomas Ken and Louis Bourgeois. The four lines of the Doxology have been the most frequently sung words of any known song for more than three hundred years!

Thank you to all of our staff who provide recreation with all of its benefits at Menno Place!
Therapeutic Recreation is a profession which recognizes leisure, recreation and play as integral components of quality of life. Service is provided to individuals who have physical, mental, social or emotional limitations which impact their ability to engage in meaningful leisure experiences.
Therapeutic Recreation is directed toward functional interventions, leisure education and participation opportunities. These processes support the goal of assisting the individual to maximize the independence in leisure, optimal health and the highest possible quality of life.
Menno Place makes every effort to staff a full roster of care staff every shift.
At times, there may be a shortage of workers due to unexpected illness, last minute call ins or an injury. To ensure the safety of the residents and staff who are working, the following practice is followed:
The floor nurse is responsible to ensure that no staff member leaves their work area until a full roster of incoming staff is present.
Every effort is made to cover short shifts with casual staff, part-time staff or with overtime. In the event this is not possible, care staff from the previous shift are required to stay to cover a vacant shift.
If no employee volunteers to stay in place the floor nurse has the responsibility to cover the shortage with the least senior employee on the unit. We understand that this can cause difficulty to an individual but resident care and staff safety are our priority.

🎼 It’s February and our hymn of the month is Come, Thou Fount by Robert Robinson. Written in 1758, the story behind this hymn is both beautiful and tragic. Thank you, Lord, for your “streams of mercy, never ceasing”!
